EXCURSIONS
Alcobaca (5 min), Nazare (15 minutes), Fatima (25 minutes), Obidos (30 minutes), Batalha (30 minutes) and Lisbon (70 minutes)
BEACHES
Many beautiful quiet beaches along the Costa Prata, north and south of Nazare. The sheltered bays at Foz d'Arelho and San Martinho are also ideal for small children.
Praia do Norte at Nazare (15 minutes) is famous for the biggest waves ever surfed in the world, just north of Nazaré
GOLF AND SAILING
40 minutes away is the beautiful Golf and Country club Praia del Rey. Other golf courses in the area can be found at: Costa Prata Golf Courses.
30 minutes away at Foz d'Arelho on an inner lake a beautiful sailing and surfing school.
CULTURE
The area also has a lot to offer in the cultural field. Fatima and Batalha are famous pilgrimage sites. Alcobaca also has the largest church with a monastery in Portugal.
WALKING AND CAVES
At 20 minutes drive you are in the Serra dos Candeiros, a vast mountain area where you can make beautiful walks. In this area there are also several spectacular cave areas that are safe to visit (including Grutas de Mira De Aire).
